Common questions about our pediatric services
Dr. Somasundaram provides comprehensive care for children of all ages, from newborns to adolescents up to 18 years of age. This includes newborn care, infant health, toddler development, school-age children's health, and adolescent medicine.
For newborns and infants under 1 year, regular check-ups are recommended at 2 weeks, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months. For toddlers and preschoolers, check-ups are recommended at 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, 3 years, and 4 years. School-age children should have annual check-ups. However, these are general guidelines, and Dr. Somasundaram may recommend a different schedule based on your child's specific health needs.
We follow the National Immunization Schedule recommended by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. This includes vaccines for diseases such as tuberculosis, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, Hib, pneumococcal disease, rotavirus, measles, mumps, rubella, and more. During your visit, Dr. Somasundaram will provide a personalized vaccination schedule for your child based on their age and health status.

For your child's first appointment, please bring their previous medical records, including immunization records, growth charts, and any relevant test results or specialist reports. Also, bring a list of any medications your child is currently taking, including dosages, and a list of any allergies. If your child has health insurance, please bring your insurance card as well.
While we do our best to accommodate urgent cases during our regular clinic hours, we are not an emergency facility. For life-threatening emergencies, please go to the nearest emergency room or call an ambulance. For urgent but non-life-threatening concerns during clinic hours, please call us, and we will do our best to see your child as soon as possible.
